
Jonathan Genzen, a physician by training, is an avid canoeist and kayaker. He has previously
served on the Board of Directors of the Chicago River Rowing and Paddling Center.
Jonathan spent countless hours
paddling on the Main and South Branches of the Chicago River when he lived in Hyde Park. He earned both his Ph.D.
in neurobiology and M.D. from the University of Chicago and previously lived in Evanston when he was an undergraduate at Northwestern
University. He completed residency training in laboratory medicine and a postdoctoral research fellowship at Yale University. Jonathan is now an Assistant
Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College / New York Presbyterian Hospital.
Jonathan's unique perspetive on the Chicago River inspired a profound desire to give something back to the city of
Chicago, resulting in this, his first book.
