
Dr. Jonathan Genzen is an avid canoeist and kayaker. He spent countless hours paddling on the Main
and South Branches of the Chicago River when he lived in Hyde Park. He earned both his Ph.D. in neurobiology and
M.D. from the University of Chicago and previously lived in Evanston when he was an undergraduate at Northwestern University.
He has previously served on the Board of Directors of the Chicago River Rowing and Paddling Center.
Jonathan completed residency training in laboratory
medicine and a postdoctoral research fellowship at Yale University. He is
now an Assistant Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College / NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital
in Manhattan.
Jonathan's unique perspetive on the Chicago River inspired a profound desire to
give something back to the city of Chicago, resulting in this, his first book.
